Research interests

My research focuses on acoustic communication in fishes. The work covers sound generating organs and their neuronal control, the design of acoustic signals, acoustical behavior, the significance of sounds, and the perception of sounds. The latter includes the inner ear structure, the auditory periphery, hearing sensitivity, the ability to detect temporal patterns and encode conspecific sounds, and the effects of ambient and anthropogenic noise on hearing and communication.
